The new collection of images from October once again showcases the diversity of wildlife and natural habitats, captured by our nature photographers across several continents. In France, Stéphane Vitzthum documents the quiet life of the Lorraine woodlands, from the stag beetle (Lucanus cervus) to the fire salamander (Salamandra salamandra), while Bruno Cavignaux provides a detailed look at the bird and insect life of Alsace, notably the Little Owl (Athene noctua) and the Alsatian Orb-weaver (Araneus alsine).
Philippe Lebeaux rounds out this overview with winter landscapes of the Cévennes and the insects of the Rhône region, including the Alpine longhorn beetle (Rosalia alpina), a protected species that depends on dead beech wood.
On the international front, Pablo Barrena offers an in-depth report on the Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus) in Spain, alongside African species observed in Kruger National Park. Vincent Premel, reporting from Ecuador, highlights remarkable reptiles and amphibians, such as the Ecuadorian Eyelash Viper (Bothriechis nitidus) and the Glass Frog (Nymphargus lasgralaris), while Thomas Dressler photographs the large mammals of the Kalahari Desert.
Finally, Yann Avril documents the impact of a fire on the dunes of Mont Saint-Frieux, on the Opal Coast, offering a valuable account of the resilience of dune ecosystems in the aftermath of the fire.
