Born in 1959 in the Rhône region of France, Alain Roux was immersed in the world of images from an early age. His father, a newspaper correspondent, introduced him to photography at an early age, taking him along on his reports. At the same time, he developed a deep passion for nature, particularly ornithology.
A journalist by profession, he soon decided to combine his two interests: observing life and capturing photographic moments. Now based in Provence, he devotes most of his free time to nature photography, surveying the vast expanses of the Camargue, the slopes of Mont Ventoux and, further north, the wilds of northern Europe.
Whether approaching or stalking, terrestrial or floating, Alain Roux favors discreet, patient and respectful photography. His credo is to blend into the environment, to disappear from the eyes of his subjects in order to observe them better. His images reveal the silent beauty of birds, the delicacy of natural light, and the magic of fleeting moments captured without artifice.
