Born in Moscow, Aleksey Volkov discovered a deep attraction to the animal world at an early age. As a child, he collected insects, amphibians and other small wild creatures, observing them with fascination. This insatiable curiosity for natural life evolved over the years into a demanding passion: wildlife photography, which he has been practicing seriously since 2008.
Self-taught, Aleksey has built up a solid reputation thanks to his patient and sensitive approach to nature. Specializing in wildlife photography, he is equally interested in small mammals and exotic insects, with a precise eye for detail and documentary rigor. In particular, he collaborates with the Small Mammal Department at Moscow Zoo, an immersion that enables him to capture rare and authentic scenes of everyday animal life.
His work has been published several times in National Geographic Russia, including series devoted to insect life and exotic stick insects. He has also exhibited and won awards at a number of major nature photography festivals.
He is sometimes invited as a jury member in these competitions, a sign of the recognition of his expertise in the field.
Through his lens, Aleksey Volkov offers us an attentive, often intimate look at living things. His work combines scientific rigor, visual emotion and deep respect for the natural world.
