Passionate about nature and photography since his earliest youth, André Simon surveys natural environments with his binoculars and SLR, always on the lookout for authentic moments to capture. Based in Lorraine, a region rich in diverse habitats but where wilderness is becoming increasingly rare, he takes an attentive and committed look at his immediate surroundings.
Sensitive to all subjects, he nevertheless shows a predilection for birds on the naturalist side, and for stalking photography and macro photography on the technical side. His approach favors in-depth, comprehensive work on each subject, highlighting not only animal behavior but also their integration into their natural environment, to produce a coherent, lively visual narrative.
André Simon actively supports nature associations by making his images available to them, thus testifying to his concrete commitment to environmental protection. A former audiovisual director specializing in multivision editing in the age of the slide, he has now fully embraced digital technology, developing projects combining images and sound to raise awareness among a wide audience.
His work has been regularly published in specialist magazines such as Terre Sauvage and Chasseur d'Images, and has received numerous distinctions in renowned competitions and festivals of naturalist photography, such as Montier-en-Der, Abbeville, Camargue and Séné.
Through his photographs, André Simon invites us to discover the beauty and fragility of nature, both remote and local, with particular attention paid to the ecological and ethical dimensions of his profession.
