Ignacio Yufera, wildlife photographer specializing in tropical birds, captures stunning images of fauna across Latin America and Africa.
Ignacio Yufera is a Spanish nature photographer who specialises mainly in ornithology and tropical wildlife. A graduate of the Parsons School of Design in Paris, he began travelling in 2005 in search of wild species, particularly birds, in Spain, Canada and Africa.
Since 2016, based between Madrid and Panama, Yufera has focused his photographic practice on Central and South America: cloud forests, coastal forests, dense tropical sites. He also runs Tamandua Nature Tours, offering workshops and nature excursions in these regions.
He is the author of the book Birds of Morocco, published in several languages, which celebrates Morocco's avian diversity, and his photos have been published in leading magazines such as BBC Wildlife and the Handbook of the Mammals of the World. In 2007, he co-founded the Emberiza Fund, an NGO that supports bird conservation and training projects in Spain, Uganda and Senegal.
His areas of expertise are tropical ornithology, small mammals and amphibians of the neotropical forests, and the fauna of Africa and Europe, depending on the project. He favours a respectful approach, capturing species in their natural behaviour in low light or in flight, while avoiding disturbing the subject.
