Through her photos, Monique Morin celebrates the magic and diversity of nature in the Auvergne.
Born on the stormy coast of Brittany, Monique Morin was drawn to nature and animals from an early age. After a long detour imposed by the pace of life, she returned to her first love once her children had become independent. In 2006, she chose photography as a means of conveying her wonder at the diversity of living things.
Now living in the Allier region, her adopted home, she tirelessly explores the landscapes of the Auvergne - meadows, peat bogs, forests, hedged farmland and ponds - all fragments of her “extraordinary garden”, where discreet and sometimes little-known flora and fauna flourish. With patience and humility, she captures the magic of everyday life: a flutter of wings, a drop of dew, the soft light of late afternoon.
Her vision, nourished by poetry and naturalist rigor, reveals the fragile beauty of the environments that surround her. Each photograph is preceded by careful observation, research into species and biotopes, in order to best respect what Mother Nature has to offer. “Every flower reveals an elf, every tree a troll...”, she says, reminding us that reality, if seen accurately, is already wonderful.
