Annecy-based astrophotographer, Philippe Jacquot captures starry skies through celestial landscapes and eclipse chasing.

Philippe Jacquot is an French astrophotographer based in Annecy, in the Haute-Savoie region of France. A lifelong photography enthusiast, he discovered astronomy in 1998, shortly before the total solar eclipse of 1999 observed in France. The meeting of these two passions felt natural to him: he chose to convey through images the sense of calm and wonder offered by observing the night sky with the naked eye, capturing "celestial landscapes" that blend earthly horizons with starry skies.

Holder of a university degree in astronomy and astrophysics earned in 2000, he has chaired the Annecy astronomy club Tycho Brahé for 24 years. Through the club, he organizes observation evenings and gives talks throughout the Rhône-Alpes region, helping share his passion with the public. Having also become an "eclipse chaser," he has traveled the world for many years to relive the intensity of this exceptional astronomical phenomenon.

His work has earned him several awards in international competitions, including the Photo Nightscape Awards, the Siena International Photography Awards, and the Astrophotographer of the Year competition held by the Royal Observatory of Greenwich. His images have also been published in specialized magazines such as Ciel & Espace, and he has been featured in television reports, including a profile broadcast on TF1's 8 p.m. news.

Beyond photography itself, Philippe Jacquot shares his expertise through photography workshops held around Lake Annecy and abroad, where he teaches techniques such as star trails, the Milky Way, and night panoramas. He has also published a book devoted to the celestial landscapes of Lake Annecy.
